You are a teacher and you would like your pupils to discover what the world's famous characters look like, so as to illustrate and supplement their French and History schoolbooks. Grévin can provide you with total immersion in time and space as they meet over 250 famous people: Jean de la Fontaine, Louis XIV, Joan of Arc, Voltaire, Diderot, General de Gaulle, some of today's Heads of State, artists such as Rodin and Picasso, Mozart and Mstislav Rostropovitch posing in front of the Berlin Wall. All these and many other themes frequently leading to lively questions and answers.

The Grévin is of course full of wax representations of well known people, but they are presented so as to offer more than a glimpse of the history of costume and rich decors. The Grévin theatre was constructed in 1900 and decorated by Antoine Bourdelle the sculptor, who carved the high-reliefs and by the painter Jules Chéret for the curtain - an original painting, 5m x 5m.

The Grévin is also the stunning Sound and Light show in the Hall of Mirrors, created by the engineer Eugène Hénard for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in 1900. It was the star attraction, the highlight in more than one meaning, of the Exhibition and consecrated the dawn of electric lighting. It came to the Grévin Museum in 1906 and was totally renovated in 2006. It makes a deep impression on all our visitors.

You will need to raise your eyes to admire the decor of the Dome and of the Hall of Columns which was the Grévin's original setting when the Museum opened on June 5th, 1882. The style is of Louis XV inspiration, all gold leaf and Venetian mosaics, as is the case for the majestic marble staircase built in 1900, leading the way up to the first floor. All are excellent introductions to artistic and architectural discussions.

Of course, French history is very present, but so are today's topical subjects and as your visit proceeds, you and your pupils can take pictures of yourselves in the company of your favourite stars: Charles Aznavour, Diam’s, Fabrice Luchini, Gérard Jugnot, Tony Parker, Monica Bellucci or Zinédine Zidane and many more. A unique photograph album to take back home!
