Grevin academy
Created in January 2001, the Grévin Academy, whose President is Bernard Pivot, meets twice a year in the Plaza Athénée Hotel, Avenue Montaigne, Paris, and selects the celebrities who will be entering the Grévin.
In 1881, the Grévin Museum's creator, Arthur Meyer, a journalist and founder of the daily newspaper Le Gaulois, conceived the idea of making 3-D representations of the people who were in the news on the front page of his paper. At the time, photographs were not much in use by the printed press and readers were only familiar with famous faces when they appeared in caricatures or sketches (some of which were the work of Alfred Grévin).
Following this tradition, the members of the Grévin Academy today are distinguished journalists from various media horizons.
