Sébastien Loeb in the Grévin since October 14, 2011 !

With the journalist Marion JOLLES officiating, the inauguration ceremony for the seven-time world champion rally driver’s wax figure, was a memorable and congenial sporting event !

On Thursday, October 13th 2011, Béatrice de REYNIES, the Grévin’s managing director, welcomed Sébastien LOEB and recalled with admiration his remarkable career as a world-class athlete, noting that he was the first rally driver to enter the Grévin.  Bernard PIVOT, President of the Grévin Academy, introduced Sébastien LOEB officially with a perceptive and witty speech.  In conclusion, Gérard HOLTZ took the floor and gave a moving account of the sportsman’s scintillating track record, not forgetting to mention his charisma and simplicity despite his innumerable successes.

Striking pictures of Sébastien LOEB’s outstanding career flashed past to display his masterly driving abilities and talent, on every kind of surface, and those of his co-pilot, Daniel Elena.  In the company of his family, including his wife and his mother, his friends and Citroën management representatives, Sébastien was overwhelmed and amazed to discover his wax look-alike which he inspected with the greatest of care before disclosing his sentiments to the media.  Faced with this uncanny truer-than-life double, he said: “Entering the Grévin is a kind of consecration”.

The sculptor Stéphane BARRET and the Grévin’s workshops needed six months, counting from their very first meeting with the model, to produce the wax statue.  Sébastien was amused by the posing sessions and participated willingly.

Every detail must of course be just right for the resemblance with the celebrity to be absolutely flawless.  Sébastien LOEB’s hair colour and distinctive blue eyes were copied to perfection!

Wearing his racing driver’s suit, Sébastien’s statue has pride of place on a podium with a sign saying “Grévin Rally”, in the company of other sports celebrities, close to Tony PARKER and Sébastien CHABAL.
